True Independence Group Exhibit

Lucille Khornak Gallery presents, "Heads Up," by Angie Sinclair

In celebration of our tenth year, the Lucille Khornak Gallery in Bridgehampton presents a group exhibit featuring a diverse set of artists from various parts of the United States. This exhibit will run from Saturday, June 23 to Friday, July 6, displaying a wealth of creative takes on the feeling of summer, the joy of freedom, and true independence. Unique to additional shows of the season, featured artists have been chosen from a contest where a panel of jurors selected a number of artists to be displayed. Current gallery artist, Sabino Caputo, unveiled a very special masterpiece at the heart of the exhibit.

Through the years, the Lucille Khornak Gallery has remained dedicated to sharing vibrant and unique works of art that know no boundaries. Past exhibitions have featured domestic and international pieces from such artists including: Eric Demarchelier, Andre Costa, Lynn F. Walker, and more. For our tenth anniversary, it was clear that something new and different was in order, so the decision was made to start the season off by inviting a number of guest artists into our sacred space to share their creative identity with the collectors and tastemakers of the Bridgehampton scene.

Independence, by definition, is the fact or state of being independent. It is synonymous with the sentiments of liberty, self-government, and self-determination. Historically, many have believed independence either to be “relative” or “completely mythical,” but we at the Lucille Khornak Gallery believe in something different -- True Independence. What is True Independence? True Independence is a state of being that allows us to embrace each others’ individuality without compromise of our own identities, thoughts, or feelings.

This exhibition’s opening reception will be held on Saturday, June 23 and remain open through Friday, July 6. A total 18 artists have been chosen from a panel of three art jurors; Lucille Khornak, OZ Karras, and Gilbert Abad. Sponsors include Madison & Mulholland and Jarlsberg Cheese.
