Patrick Walker Duffy (b. Blue Hill, ME) is an artist living and working in Brooklyn, New York. He received his BFA from Pratt Institute in Painting and Art History. His work has been included in shows throughout New York, mostly within the Chelsea and Soho art districts.Nautical themes found predominately in his work are influenced by his time growing up on the ocean, as well as his fascination with physical and environmental sciences.
“The work begins as a flowing challenge in form, creating an environment where a sense of rhythm, fluidity and layering of color are fundamental elements. I start a painting knowing the imagery’s color and structure will transform, allowing the piece to shape itself into the unexpected. It reflects the sensations of loss, growth, and the dimension of time within surrounding spaces, like being the “trough” between the crests of waves, or an illusion justified by the presence of reality. I’m attempting to connect the balance between the metaphysical and the familiar, using the human form and dematerializing them back into layered patterns of natural abstraction”.
